Caught the special rapid train for a 40-minute journey to Himeji castle (the friends took the shikansen which took half the time - love that Japan Rail Pass). The wife's knee was hurting, so she didn't come along. For lunch, we ate some expensive soba - really should have checked the price before going in.
In the afternoon, we headed back to Kobe to meet the wife and niece at Motomachi Cake. Then, went to Harborland and checked out Uni Qlo, Toys R Us and Softmap. Said farewell to the friends at JR Kobe station as they headed back to their hotel in Osaka and a week in Tokyo.
